I hate to admit it but the Christmas Holiday can be tiresome to me because the repetition of traditional songs becomes laughable. I don’t need to hear forty versions of the same pop song from the 50s.

So I opened my heart up to this Sufjan Stevens song. The lyrics are such a relief.

Sister Winter
Oh my thoughts I
Return to summer time
When I kissed your ankle
I kissed you through the night

All my gifts I gave everything to you
Your strange imagination
You threw it all away

Now my heart is
Returned to sister winter
Now my heart is
As cold as ice

I just saw this quick little video. Now I’m dying to shop and sew. Besides there is nothing more calming to me than animated knitting, which means that I love to watch these ETSY videos.

There are but very few actors who can make my heart race. Something about Sam Neill always felt right. I remember seeing him in The Hunt for Red October and he had such simple aspirations his character wanted to go to America, settle down on a farm with a good woman.

But I gotta admit that it was seeing him in Dead Calm that always made me yearn to be in his life. There is something so disarming about seeing a man delve deep into himself to not only survive but to also fight to save the woman he loved.

I just can’t help but love a man who is handy in a pinch. *Thank God for FFFOUND!.com for these strange blog moments. Tomorrow more music.

I had a little too much fun this morning while perusing my Itunes music library. The songs brought back some memories from my childhood that I had forgotten.
I think for the next couple of posts I will just focus on these nostalgic treats.

Growing up I had very few friends. I would follow my brother around. I was by nature very girly. If I was lucky my brother would play with me. He would take my barbie doll house and shake it until my bedroom floor was covered in devastation. That always made me laugh. I couldn’t help but look up to him.

Which brings me to tonight’s Song: “Enter Sandman” -Metallica

The song was all over MTV when my big brother was in high school.
Back then he was a football player. Which means I usually never saw him on a given day when he wasn’t exercising with my dad, training at the school, out of town on away games or resting up after a big night.

My parents and I would travel to every game. My dad would stand up the whole game holding up his video camera. My mom would sit there a nervous wreck. On those nights when they would shout out his name I could help but thinking that there was nobody as cool as my big brother.

That’s still true. He just doesn’t have to wear pads anymore.

Tomorrow I will add another song and another memory. Holiday’s always make me nostalgic.

Starting to get sick. So I took a break from making things. Not as some sort of excuse, it just feels like bad etiquette to create goods for people while contagious. I don’t want to be that person.

Anyhow because of the cold my mind is in need of something cool. I’ve only recently started reading Dude Craft’s blog. I love it. I just saw this post from earlier in the week.

I mention it only because my favorite memory of working in a theatre (as in drama not movie) was when I spent a week creating rocks for a production. These were HUGE rocks. Made of cardboard, balsa wood and tons of caulk. I may in fact be the only non-theatre, non-certified, non-shop individuals to have ever have walked into a theatre workshop to use a bandsaw to build a set of rocks.

*To work in a shop on a school campus is a big deal. Usually you need to sign a waiver, be a major, or being paying for a class. In this particular situation I knew a couple of theatre professors, I had directed a short play, and I had applied for a scholarship at the theatre which explains the odd jobs

**My train of thought is a little muddy when sick. I would edit this entry but I’m tired and I mostly wanted to just share this link and go to bed.

Goodnight all!

This is the reality of owning a dog. After a few weeks nothing your dog does can faze you. Nothing.

There is and always will be time in my life for a new film. My favorite local rental had a shelf devoted to Judy Garland. I was searching for A Star is Born and stumbled upon The Clock.
The combination of Vincente Minnelli’s direction and Judy Garland’s performance, it can make you lovesick.
Below are some still images from the film. It would be pointless to describe my favorite scenes when the image speaks for itself.

Goodnight!

Did a lot of things to day. Pair of fingerless gloves completed. Various other mini projects assembled. And a splendid new “stoop.”
Pictures will be taken tomorrow after some much needed rest.
This recent Natalie Dee comic was too funny not to share immediately, enjoy!

Hope you enjoy a horrific Halloween. I’m off to watch some gore and silliness.
